Most problems with a V Rising server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
The server does not appear in the in-game server list
Why: The server only appears on the lists you enabled, and the game client searches the Epic list by default.
Fix: Connect by address with the Server Address from the Overview page, and check that List On Epic (and optionally List On Steam) is on.
Players cannot join, or are refused straight away
Why: The password is wrong, or the player is VAC banned while Secure Server is on, or the server is full.
Fix: Check the Server Password. If the server is full, note that the player limit is set by your plan; Max Connected Admins only lets admins in when it is full. Set Secure Server to false only if you accept VAC banned players, and understand that cheaters can then join.
The server takes a very long time to start
Why: Validate Server Files is on, which re-checks every game file on each start.
Fix: Leave Validate Server Files empty and only turn it on for a one-off repair.
My uploaded single-player world is ignored or loads with the wrong rules
Why: The Save Name does not match the folder name, the folder is not inside save-data/Saves/v4/, or a Game Settings Preset or Game Difficulty Preset is overriding the rules stored in the save.
Fix: Match Save Name to the folder name exactly, place it in save-data/Saves/v4/, and empty the Game Settings Preset and Game Difficulty Preset.
adminauth does nothing or says you are not an admin
Why: Your Steam ID is not in adminlist.txt, or the console is not enabled.
Fix: Add your SteamID64 on its own line in save-data/Settings/adminlist.txt, turn on Console Enabled in the game options (options menu, then General), rejoin and try again.
RCON will not connect
Why: RCON is off, the RCON Password is empty (the server refuses an empty one), or the connection details are wrong.
Fix: Turn on Enable RCON, set your own RCON Password, restart, and connect with your server address, the RCON Port shown under Settings, then Game Settings, and that password. If it still fails, contact support.
My hand edits to ServerHostSettings.json disappear
Why: The server rewrites fields such as name, password, ports and save name from the panel settings on every start.
Fix: Change those values in the panel settings instead of the file.
Still stuck?
Open a ticket in the category that fits and include the last 50 to 100 lines of the console. See How to open a support ticket and How to fix a server that will not start.
