The Console of a V Rising server on PlayNHost shows the server's log as it runs, so you can watch it start, load the world and report errors. The V Rising server does not read commands typed into the panel Console. Admin commands go in the game's own console, and server commands such as announce go over RCON.
Read the server log
- Open your server in the panel and click the Console tab.
- Watch the lines as the server starts. When it prints its
Startup Completedline, the badge changes to Online. - Use the filters above the output, such as Errors or Warnings, to find problems, and Since last start to hide older output.
- To send the log to support, open More console actions and choose Download log or Share log.
Why does nothing happen when I type a command?
The V Rising dedicated server never reads its console input: it only writes its log. PlayNHost checked this on a running server, where the game did not read a single line sent to it. So a command typed in Type a command, or sent by the Send Command task on Quick Tasks, reaches the server but does nothing.
Where do commands go instead?
| You want to | Use |
|---|---|
| Sign in as admin, kick, ban | The game's own console, opened with ~ in the game: How to become admin on your V Rising server |
| Announce to players, schedule a shutdown, show the version | RCON: How to use RCON on your V Rising server |
| Start, stop or restart | The Start, Stop and Restart buttons, or Send Restart on Quick Tasks |
| Restart every day | A schedule: How to restart your V Rising server on a schedule |
| Delete the world and start fresh | World Wipe on Quick Tasks: How to wipe your V Rising server |
| Save the world now | Not possible from outside the game. The server autosaves every Auto Save Interval (120 seconds by default): How to change autosave settings on your V Rising server |
What to look for in the log
- An install that failed says
SteamCMD failed to install the V Rising Dedicated Server!. Open a ticket so support can install it again: How to open a support ticket. - If the badge stays on Starting, the server has not printed its
Startup Completedline. Read the last lines for an error, then see V Rising server problems and fixes.
