Most problems with a Palworld server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
Console commands do nothing and Stop leaves the server stuck on Stopping
Why: The panel Console and Stop button send commands to the game using the Admin Password. If the Admin Password is empty, that fails.
Fix: Set Admin Password under Settings, then Game Settings, to a non-empty value (letters, numbers, dash, underscore, up to 30 characters) and restart. If the server is already stuck on Stopping, use Kill in the power controls first, then set the password and start again.
Server is killed during startup with a line ending in Killed
Why: Not enough memory. Palworld needs several GB and a 1024 MB server is stopped for lack of memory even with no players.
Fix: Move to a plan with more memory.
Xbox or PS5 players cannot join, or a platform is refused
Why: Console players can only join community servers, and their platform must be listed in Crossplay Platforms.
Fix: Make sure Crossplay Platforms lists the platform (valid values Steam, Xbox, PS5, Mac) and restart.
The panel refuses to save the Admin Password or Server Password
Why: Both accept only letters, numbers, dash and underscore, 1 to 30 characters, and Admin Password cannot be empty.
Fix: Remove spaces and symbols and keep it to 30 characters or fewer.
The panel refuses the Server Name
Why: The name may be up to 64 characters and cannot contain double quotes, backslashes or control characters.
Fix: Remove those characters and shorten the name.
Cannot raise the player limit
Why: Max Players is read-only and set by your plan.
Fix: Use Players on the server Overview page to run with fewer slots, or upgrade the plan to raise the ceiling.
After uploading a world, the server still starts a fresh one or you are asked to make a new character
Why: The server loads the world named by DedicatedServerName in GameUserSettings.ini, so it may still point at the old folder.
Fix: Stop the server and set DedicatedServerName to the exact name of the uploaded folder in Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini, then start it.
Still stuck?
Open a ticket in the category that fits and include the last 50 to 100 lines of the console. See How to open a support ticket and How to fix a server that will not start.
