The official docs recommend 16 GB for a server and say 8 GB can work but raises the chance of out-of-memory crashes. A server with 1024 MB of memory cannot run Palworld: it is stopped for lack of memory while starting, even with nobody connected. On an 8192 MB server it booted in about 20 seconds and used roughly 860 to 890 MB with nobody connected.
Our free Game Server RAM Guide shows the memory a Palworld server used in our own measurement.
Check your own usage
Open your server's Overview page and look at Usage, then the RAM tab, while players are online. An empty server tells you little, so read it with players on. See How to read your server's usage graphs.
Tips for a healthier server
- Pick a plan with several GB of memory; Palworld's own guidance is 8 GB as a bare minimum and 16 GB recommended.
- Official docs recommend a fast SSD because slow storage can corrupt save data; keep regular backups.
- Do not use a 1024 MB size for Palworld; it cannot run the game.
Change plan
If memory keeps reaching your plan's limit while players are on, move to a bigger plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
