Most problems with a Satisfactory server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
Players connect but sit on the loading screen forever
Why: The second port, Reliable Messaging Port, is not reachable. The game uses it to finish putting players into the world.
Fix: Check that the Reliable Messaging Port shown in Settings, then Game Settings, matches the second port in Ports and Network. It is assigned by the panel and cannot be changed, so contact support if they differ.
You cannot start a game on the server, or you are asked to set a name and password
Why: A new server must be claimed before it can start a game.
Fix: Open Server Manager from the main menu, add the server, and set a server name and administrator password.
Recent progress is missing after the server was stopped or restarted
Why: Progress made since the last autosave is not on disk when the server is stopped.
Fix: Save from the in-game pause menu before you stop the server so the latest progress is on disk. Rotating autosaves give you earlier points to load.
Mods stopped loading after the server restarted
Why: A game update was installed before the mod loader supported it.
Fix: Turn Automatic Updates off while you run mods, and restart. The mod list is re-resolved against the installed game version at each start.
Players get dropped while joining or mid-game
Why: The timeouts are too short for slow or unstable connections.
Fix: Raise Client Initial Connection Timeout (joining) or Client Established Connection Timeout (already playing), then restart.
The server misbehaves or fails to start after an update or crash
Why: Game files may be missing or damaged.
Fix: Turn on Validate Server Files and start the server once. It adds several minutes to that start. Turn it off afterwards.
Lost the administrator password
Why: The password is stored in the server settings file and cannot be read back.
Fix: Download a backup, stop the server, then in Files delete the ServerSettings file (the one whose name contains your game port) in the SaveGames folder, start it and claim the server again. This also resets the server name and player password. Saves are not deleted.
