How much RAM does a Satisfactory server need?

SatisfactoryUpdated Oct 5, 20262 min read

The server uses about 253 MB with no players on a fresh server. Official guidance is 8 GB as a minimum and 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players, because memory grows as the factory grows. A 4 GB plan runs a small factory, so move up as your factory grows.

Our free Game Server RAM Guide shows the memory a Satisfactory server used in our own measurement.

Check your own usage

Open your server's Overview page and look at Usage, then the RAM tab, while players are online. An empty server tells you little, so read it with players on. See How to read your server's usage graphs.

Tips for a healthier server

  • Satisfactory is tuned for four players. Larger groups may run rough, so keep the factory size and player count in mind.
  • Keep Number of Rotating Autosaves modest, since each autosave uses disk space.
  • Raise the two connection timeout settings for players on slow or unstable connections.

Change plan

If memory keeps reaching your plan's limit while players are on, move to a bigger plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
