The Isle server problems and fixes

The IsleUpdated Oct 5, 20264 min read

Most problems with The Isle server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.

My server does not appear in the in-game server list

Why: The server may still be starting, or the list is hiding unofficial servers, or you are searching for a different name from the one set in Server Name.

Fix: Wait until the panel shows the server as online, make sure the list is showing unofficial (community) servers, and search for the exact Server Name. If it still does not show, open a ticket.

Players with an older game cannot join, or join and get dropped

Why: The server runs the Evrima version of The Isle and the player's game does not match it, or the server has not yet updated to the newest build.

Fix: Restart the server with Auto Update on so it updates, and ask the player to update their game to the Evrima version.

The server name, player limit, queue or password I typed into Game.ini keeps changing back

Why: The panel writes these values into Game.ini every time the server starts.

Fix: Change them under Settings, then Game Settings, and restart.

I set a Server Password but players join without being asked for one

Why: The change has not been applied yet. The password is checked from the next start after you set it.

Fix: Make sure the Server Password setting holds your password (up to 20 characters, no line breaks), then restart the server.

I added my Steam64 ID but I am not an admin in the game

Why: The ID is on the wrong line or under the wrong section of Game.ini, it is not a Steam64 ID, or the server was not restarted.

Fix: Check that the AdminsSteamIDs= line sits under [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase] with only the 17 digit ID after the equals sign, then stop and start the server. If it still fails, open a ticket with your Steam64 ID.

Players are sent to a queue and cannot get in

Why: The server is full and Enable Queue is on, so extra players wait for a free slot.

Fix: Wait for a slot, or move to a plan with a higher player limit. Turn Enable Queue off if you would rather turn extra players away.

The server takes a long time to start for the first time

Why: The first start downloads the game's server files.

Fix: Wait until the Console stops loading and the server shows online, then join.

Still stuck?

Open a ticket in the category that fits and include the last 50 to 100 lines of the console. See How to open a support ticket and How to fix a server that will not start.
