Players cannot choose a species on your The Isle server

If players can join but cannot pick any dinosaur, no species is allowed on the server. Open Species in the left menu, click Select all under Playable species and click Save. On a running server, players can choose straight away.

Fix it

1. Open your server in the panel and click Species in the left menu.
2. Under Playable species, click Select all.
3. Click Save.

The card then says Every species can be played. Ask players to go back to the character screen.

Why it happens

The game treats an empty list of allowed species as "no species at all". Since 19 October 2026 the server writes every species into the game's config at each start when the list is empty. A server that has not restarted since then can still have the empty list: Select all and Save fixes it straight away, and so does a restart.

Only some species missing?

The species that are not ticked cannot be chosen. Tick the ones you want and click Save. See How to choose the playable species on your The Isle server.

If the page says the game does not know a species

The message The game does not know these species: lists names the game refused. Untick them and save again.
