How to restart your The Isle server on a schedule

The IsleUpdated Oct 19, 20264 min read

Your server restarts early every morning with the Daily restart schedule, after warning players in the game. You can see it, test it or switch it off on the Quick Tasks page, under Schedules.

What the Daily restart does

New The Isle servers get a schedule called Daily restart. While the server is running, it:

  1. Announces in the game: The server restarts in 15 minutes for its daily update.
  2. 10 minutes later: The server restarts in 5 minutes.
  3. 4 minutes later: The server restarts in 1 minute. The world is being saved.
  4. 1 minute later, restarts the server. The world is saved before it stops.

The restart lands around 05:00 server time. The exact minute differs a little from server to server, so that many servers do not restart at once.

Why restart every day: the server installs the newest Evrima build only when it starts, and players whose game has updated cannot join a server on the old build. A restart also frees the memory the game builds up while it runs.

See it or switch it off

  1. Open your server in the panel and click Quick Tasks in the left menu.
  2. Find Daily restart under Schedules.

  1. To turn it off, use its switch. Open the row and click Run now to test it.

The Quick Tasks page cannot change the time of a schedule that exists. For another time, build your own restart schedule as below and switch Daily restart off.

If you switch it off, restart the server yourself after each game update: How to update your The Isle server.

If your server does not show Daily restart under Schedules (servers set up before it existed may not have it), find Daily restart in the Ready-made for The Isle list on the same card and click Add.

Build your own restart schedule

  1. On Quick Tasks, under All tasks, open Default tasks and find Send Restart.
  2. Open its menu and choose Schedule….
  3. Give the schedule a Name, then click Next step.
  4. Choose Repeats, set How often to Every day, and set the time under At.
  5. Keep Enabled on and click Schedule.

Warn your players before the time with Announce on the Active players card, because a restart disconnects them for a short while.

See How to schedule tasks and automatic backups for every part of the page.
