Players cannot join your DDNet server

Check these in order: the server is Online, the player uses the right address or name, the password matches, and there is a free slot. Most join problems are one of these.

1. Is the server online

1. Open your server in the panel. The badge must say Online.
2. Open the Console. The server has started when it shows server name is and your server's name.

If it is not running, click Start. See How to start your DDNet server for the first time.

2. The right server

• In the browser: a new or just restarted server needs a minute or so to show on the Internet tab. If Public server list is 0, it never shows there. See Your DDNet server does not show in the server browser.
• By address: copy the address again from the Address row of the Play with friends card. In the client, F1, then connect and the address, port included.

3. The password

The password must match exactly, capitals included. The Password row of the Play with friends card shows it. After you change Server password, restart the server.

4. A free slot

The Active players card shows players / slots. When they are equal, new players are turned away. If you use the public-server preset, some slots are kept for staff and the server is full sooner. See How to change player slots on your DDNet server.

5. Several players from one home

DDNet lets at most 4 players join from the same address, as a guard against bots. A family or a LAN party on one connection can hit that. To allow more, add a line to myServerconfig.cfg, for example sv_max_clients_per_ip 8, and restart. See How to add your own settings to your DDNet server.

6. Banned

A player who was banned, by you, a moderator, a kick vote or too many wrong RCON passwords, cannot join until the ban ends. Type bans in the Console to check: How to lift a ban on your DDNet server.

7. Teeworlds 0.7 players

Players on the old Teeworlds 0.7 client join by address. If they cannot join after a map change, 0.7 support may have turned off: How to let Teeworlds 0.7 players join your DDNet server.
