Your DDNet server accepts players on the DDNet client and on the older Teeworlds 0.7 client at the same time. You do not have to switch anything on: the server makes a 0.7 copy of every map by itself, and 0.7 players join by your server's address.
What the server does for 0.7 players
A Teeworlds 0.7 client needs its own copy of each map. While your server runs, it makes one for every .map file in data/maps and keeps it in data/maps7 under Files.
- At each start it makes the copy of the start map first, so 0.7 players can join from the first minute.
- It then copies every other map, and looks again every 20 seconds for maps you uploaded since.
- The Console says
[PlayNHost] Made 0.7 copies ofand the number of maps. - On the Maps page, a map with its copy has the badge 0.7.

After a start, the Console also shows register/7/ipv4: successfully registered: the server announced its 0.7 side too. 0.7 players join by address, as below.
How 0.7 players join
- They open Teeworlds 0.7 and press F1 to open its console.
- They type
connectfollowed by the address from the Address row of the Play with friends card on your Overview page, and press Enter. - If the server has a password, they type it when the game asks.
Players on the DDNet client join as usual: How to join your DDNet server. DDNet is free, so 0.7 players can also move to the DDNet client for every feature.
If 0.7 players cannot join
A map that has no 0.7 copy turns 0.7 support off for the rest of that run, as soon as the server loads it. This happens when you switch to a map in the first half minute after uploading it, with the Console or the Change Map task, or when players vote for a new map in the first minute after a start, before its copy is made. The Maps page waits for the 0.7 badge before it shows its switch and vote buttons, so it never does this.
To fix it:
- Open Maps in the left menu and check that every map you use has the 0.7 badge. A new upload gets it within about half a minute while the server runs.
- Restart the server. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
A map the server cannot copy for 0.7 never gets the 0.7 badge. When the server loads it, as the start map or after a vote, 0.7 support goes off until the next restart. If 0.7 players matter to you, choose another start map, or delete that map.
Good to know
- A map uploaded while the server is stopped gets its copy at the next start.
- Deleting a map on the Maps page also deletes its 0.7 copy.
