How to lift a ban on your DDNet server

DDNet (DDraceNetwork)Updated Oct 23, 20263 min read

Type bans in the Console to list the bans, then unban and the ban's number, for example unban 0. A restart of the server also lifts every ban.

Lift one ban

  1. Open your server in the panel and click the Console tab.
  2. Type bans and press Enter. Each ban is listed with a number such as #0 and the banned address.
  3. Type unban and the number, for example unban 0, and press Enter.

unban with the player's address works too. Staff logged in with F2 as admin or moderator can use the same commands in the game.

Lift every ban

Type unban_all. Every ban on the list is lifted at once.

Where bans come from

  • Your own bans with ban in the Console, or the Ban Player task, which bans for one day.
  • Wrong RCON passwords. A player who types a wrong password in the remote console too often is banned for a while. With the public-server preset, 5 wrong passwords mean a 30 minute ban. See The RCON password does not work on your DDNet server.
  • Kick votes. Players can vote to kick someone, and DDNet then bans that player's address for 5 minutes by default.

Good to know

  • DDNet keeps bans in memory, so every ban ends when the server restarts. To keep someone out for good, ban them again after each restart, or set a Server password and give it only to the players you want.
  • A ban is on an address. Players on the same home connection are banned with them.
