Type say and your message in the Console, for example say The server restarts in 5 minutes. It appears in every player's chat. The Announce to Players task on Quick Tasks does the same with a click.

From the Console

  1. Open your server in the panel and click the Console tab.
  2. Type one of these and press Enter:
CommandWhere players see it
say Your messageIn the chat.
broadcast Your messageAcross the screen, for a few seconds.
server_alert Your messageAs an alert from the server.

The server must be running.

With the Announce to Players task

  1. Click Quick Tasks in the left menu.
  2. Find Announce to Players and click Run. The Configure task window opens, because the task needs a Message.
  3. Type the message and click Save task. This saves the task with that message under Your tasks; it does not send it yet.
  4. Open Your tasks and click Run on the task. Run it again any time to send the same message.

A message at a set time

To warn players before a restart every day, schedule Announce to Players a few minutes before your restart schedule: open its menu, choose Schedule…, type the message under Arguments, and choose the time. See How to restart your DDNet server on a schedule.

Messages that come by themselves

A welcome line, the message of the day, rules and repeating announcements are set in files: How to set a welcome message and rules on your DDNet server.
