The Server Settings (server.cfg) page lets you set your server's browser tags and the most common gameplay options without editing a file by hand. Change what you want, click Save & restart, and the server restarts with the new values.
Open the page
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- In the left card, under Config files, click Server Settings (server.cfg). It is the file
server/rust/cfg/server.cfg.

- Change what you want. The page counts your unsaved changes.
- Click Save & restart to save and restart the server in one go, or Save only to restart later. Revert throws your changes away.
The page is offered even before the file exists, and saving creates it. Changes apply at the next start: after Save only the page says Saved. Changes take effect the next time the server starts.

Browser tags
Rust shows up to 4 tags for your server in the server browser, and its filters use them. The picker shows how many you have chosen: N of 4 picked. The tags are in groups:
| Group | Tags | How many |
|---|---|---|
| Wipe schedule | Monthly, Biweekly, Weekly | at most one |
| Difficulty | Vanilla, Hardcore, Softcore | at most one |
| Region | Europe, North America, South America, West Asia, East Asia, Oceania, Africa | at most one |
| Game mode | Roleplay, Creative, Minigame, Combat Training, Battlefield, Battle Royale, Build Server | any, they can be combined |
In a group where you can pick only one, choosing a second swaps the first out. The page says <group>: pick one.
The game adds the PvE tag itself when PvE is on, so you do not pick it. The Modded, Oxide and Carbon tags are not in the picker either: the game adds those itself.
What is not on this page
The server name, description, URL, header image, max players, world size, seed, level, map link, save interval and RCON stay in Game Settings. The server.cfg file would override them, so they are not offered here. See Rust server settings: every option explained.
Your own lines in server.cfg, comments and other commands, are kept as they are when you save.
