Open Settings, then Game Settings, and change Server Name and Description. Restart the server and the new text shows in Rust's server list.
Change them
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
- Click in Server Name, type the new name and press Enter. The name can be up to 60 characters.
- Click in Description and type the text that shows under your server's title. Most owners put rules and a Discord link here.
- Click Restart now on the banner, or restart the server yourself.

Which characters work
Names and descriptions can use letters, numbers, spaces, emoji and symbols such as | [ ] ( ) # & * and +. A name like [EU] Rust 2x+ | Weekly is fine.
These are not allowed:
- Double quotes.
- Backslashes, backticks,
$and;. - A word that starts with
+. Rust reads it as the start of another setting. A+straight after a letter or a number, as in2x+, is fine.
If you use one, the panel refuses the value and says so. If it refuses a character from the allowed list above, your server was probably created with an older start command: open a ticket and we will refresh it.
A new line in the description
Type \n where you want a new line. It is a backslash and the letter n. For example Rules: no cheating\nDiscord: your link shows two lines. A description cannot end with a backslash.
Website and header image
- URL: the address behind the Visit Website button on your server listing.
- Server Image: a direct link to a picture on a public website, shown at the top of your server listing.
Both take an ordinary web address. These two fields are stricter than the name: a link with ?, &, +, #, ~ or * in it is refused, so pick a plain link without a query string.
The name in the panel is a different name
The Server Name row on the server card at the top of Overview is the name you see in the panel, to tell your servers apart. It does not change what players see. See How to rename your server and change player slots.
