How to share your Valheim mods with players

ValheimUpdated Oct 22, 20263 min read

Click Share with players on the Mods page and then Make a code. Players paste that code into r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager and get the same mods at the same versions, the loader included. Server-only mods are left out unless you include them.

Make the code

  1. Open your server in the panel and click the Modding tab.
  2. On the side card On this server, click Share with players.
  3. Choose what to include:

    • Include the server-only mod (with several, the box names how many, for example Include the 2 server-only mods), if your server has any. Players do not need them, so leave it off unless your community asked.
    • Config files to include. Anyone with the code can read these files, so leave out any that hold passwords, webhooks or admin IDs.
  4. Click Make a code.
  5. Copy the Profile code with its copy button.

What players do

The window lists the steps to send with the code:

  1. Open r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager and choose Valheim.
  2. Profile selection: Import / update, then From code.
  3. Paste the code, name the profile, and start the game with Start modded.

Then they join your server as usual: How to join your Valheim server from Steam.

Good to know

  • Thunderstore keeps codes for a limited time. Make a new one after you change your mods.
  • Mods marked Server only need nothing on the players' side. Mods marked Players need it too are the ones players must have.
  • Console players cannot install mods: Console players cannot join your modded Valheim server.
  • Share with players appears once your list has at least one mod, and needs the Read contents permission.
