Your players join your Enshrouded server with its Server Address, shown on the server's Overview page in the panel. Enshrouded is a co-op survival and crafting action RPG for up to 16 players set in a voxel world; a hosted dedicated server keeps one shared world running around the clock so friends can join without anyone's PC being the host.
Join in a few steps
- Open your server in the panel. If the status badge says Offline, click Start and wait until it says Online. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- On the Overview page, click the copy icon next to Server Address. It looks like
address:port.

- Launch Enshrouded from Steam and choose Join in the main menu to open the server browser.
- In the Server Filter on the right side of the screen, make sure the Show dedicated server option is switched on, otherwise dedicated servers are hidden from the list.
- Find your server by the name you set in the panel (Server Name) and select it. You can mark it with the star icon so it is sorted to the top next time.
- If the server does not appear in the in-game list, add it through Steam instead: in the Steam client open View, then Game Servers, go to the Favorites tab, click the plus button and enter your server's IP and its Query Port separated by a colon (the Query Port is listed in Ports and Network). The server then shows at the top of the in-game list.
- A new server comes with random passwords for each role, so nobody can join until you read or change them. In Files, open enshrouded_server.json and look in the userGroups section for the role passwords. Enter the password of the role you want to join as (Admin, Friend, Guest or Visitor). If you also set a Server Password in the panel, that password lets players in with Friend permissions.
Ports
The server uses two UDP ports, both assigned to it: the main game port, which is the port in the Server Address on the Overview page, and a Steam Query Port that the server browser and Steam use to list the server. Only the Steam favorites method asks for the Query Port. The panel sets both ports every time the server starts, so do not edit them in the config file.
Game version
With Auto Update on (the default), the server checks Steam for a game update every time it starts, so restart the server after an Enshrouded patch to pick it up. Turn on Validate for one start if the server files look corrupted.
If you cannot join
- The server must be Online. Check the badge at the top of the page.
- Copy the address again from the panel. A missing or mistyped port is the most common cause.
- Make sure every player runs a compatible game version.
- Check the password, if you set one. See How to set up your Enshrouded server.
