Your PlayNHost Enshrouded server is a Steam server, so your friends join it from the Steam version of Enshrouded on a PC. Keen Games has said that Enshrouded is not cross-platform at launch.
Players on PC with Steam
Everyone who owns Enshrouded on Steam can join, as long as they run the same game version as the server. The steps are in How to join your Enshrouded server:
- In the game, go to Play, then Join game.
- Switch on Show dedicated server in the Server Filter.
- Search for the server's name and enter the password.
A friend does not need an invitation from you through Steam's friends list. They only need the name and the password, which the Play with friends card on your Overview page gives you. See How to invite friends to your Enshrouded server.
Players on consoles
Keen Games said in its launch FAQ on 14 October 2026: "Enshrouded will not be cross-platform at launch". It also said it is working on cross-platform play and has no estimate yet. Until that changes, friends who play the console version should not expect to be able to join a server hosted on Steam.
We will update this guide when Keen Games announces cross-platform play.
Players with a different game version
A player on a newer or older version than the server cannot join. See Players on the newest game version cannot join your Enshrouded server.
Characters
Characters are stored on each player's own computer, not on the server. A player keeps their character, with its levels and skills, on any server. Keen Games lists what carries over and what does not in its Frequently Asked Questions: equipment, inventory, levels and unlocked skills stay, while most crafting recipes that depend on stations in the world, and the villagers you freed, have to be unlocked again in the new world.
