You can bring a Core Keeper world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Back up first. Uploading a world with the same name as the one on the server replaces it. Create a backup of the current world (see How to create, download and restore backups), stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- Stop the server and make a backup from the Backups page first. A world file with the same slot name replaces the existing one, and that world is lost.
- On your own PC, find the world you want to bring. For a world saved by your own game on Windows it is in the worlds folder at C:\Users\YourName\AppData\LocalLow\Pugstorm\Core Keeper\Steam\your Steam ID\worlds (AppData is hidden by default).
- In Files, open .config/unity3d/Pugstorm/Core Keeper/DedicatedServer/worlds (the folder name starts with a dot, so look near the top of the list or use the Files search box). If the folder does not exist yet, start the server once so it is created, stop it again, then continue.
- Look at the file already there for the slot you want to replace (slot 0 is the first world) and give your uploaded file exactly the same name and extension, then upload it. If there is no file for that slot yet, start the server once so it creates one, stop it again, then continue. The World Name, World Seed and Hard mode settings do not change an existing world.
- In Settings, then Game Settings, set World Index to that same slot number, then start the server. If the server builds a new world instead of loading yours, open a support ticket.
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- The safest fresh start keeps your old world: stop the server, set World Index to a slot you have not used, optionally set a new World Seed and Hard mode, then start. The server builds a new world in that slot and the old one stays on disk for later.
- To wipe a world completely instead, stop the server and download a backup of the DedicatedServer folder first. Then delete that slot's file from .config/unity3d/Pugstorm/Core Keeper/DedicatedServer/worlds. This removes that world and everything built in it for good, apart from your backup. Leave the rest of the DedicatedServer folder alone so your admin list, ban list and settings are kept, then start again.
- Generating a new world takes about five minutes on first start, so wait for the server to finish before joining.
