Core Keeper mods come from mod.io, the game's own mod platform, not from the Steam Workshop, and on a server they are added by hand as folders.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your Core Keeper world.
Add a mod
- Only pick mods that run on a server. Mods that only change a player's own screen or interface do nothing on a server and can stop it from starting.
- Open the mod's page on mod.io and use the Download Files Manually section in the right-hand sidebar to get the zip file. No account is needed for that.
- Stop the server.
- In the Files tab, open CoreKeeperServer_Data/StreamingAssets and create a folder named Mods if it does not exist.
- Inside Mods, create one folder per mod. The folder name does not have to match the mod name.
- Extract each mod's zip into its own folder, so the mod's files sit directly inside it.
- If a mod needs another mod to work, install that one too. Dependencies are not added for you.
- Start the server again.
- To remove a mod, stop the server and delete its folder from the Mods folder. A mod that added items, blocks or creatures can leave a world with gaps when removed, so make a backup from the Backups page first and remove one mod at a time.
Where files go
Open Files and use these places:
- CoreKeeperServer_Data/StreamingAssets/Mods, with one folder per mod inside it
Check it worked
Core Keeper does not list mods in the Console, so join the server and see whether the mod's content appears. See How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
