Your Core Keeper server made a new world instead of loading yours

Core KeeperUpdated Oct 29, 20263 min read

A Core Keeper server loads the world file whose number matches World Index, and builds a new world when that file is not in its worlds folder. If your PlayNHost server made a fresh world, check three things: the slot number, the file name and the folder. Your uploaded file is not lost.

How do I make the server load my world?

  1. Stop the server, so it does not write over anything while you fix it.
  2. Click the Settings tab, then Game Settings, and read World Index. It must match the number at the start of your file name: 3 for 3.world.gzip. Change it if needed and press Enter.
  3. In Files, check the file is in .config/unity3d/Pugstorm/Core Keeper/DedicatedServer/worlds.
  4. Check the file is named <number>.world.gzip. If not, open its menu, choose Rename file and fix the name.
  5. Start the server and join. Your world loads as it was.

What if the file name is wrong?

The world file must be named <number>.world.gzip, for example 3.world.gzip. If your PC added something such as (1) or .zip, rename it with Rename file.

If the server already built a new world in that slot, a new file with the right name now sits next to yours. Delete that new file first, then rename yours.

What if the file is in the wrong folder?

The file must be directly in .config/unity3d/Pugstorm/Core Keeper/DedicatedServer/worlds, not in the main folder of Files and not in a folder of its own inside worlds. Use Move file in its menu to put it in the right place.

Do World Name, Seed or Hard mode matter here?

No. World Name, World Seed and Hard mode only shape a world when the server creates it. An existing world keeps what it was built with: Changing a setting did not change your Core Keeper world.

What if the world still does not load?
