How to join your Valheim server from Xbox, PlayStation or Game Pass

Console and Game Pass players join with the six-digit Join code, as the panel's own join steps tell them to. The code exists only while Enable Crossplay is on and the server is running, and it is shown on the Play with friends card on your Overview page. It can change at every restart.

What you need

• A server that is Online.
• Enable Crossplay switched on. It is on by default on every Valheim server type. See How to turn crossplay on or off on your Valheim server.
• The join code, from the Play with friends card.
• The server password. The Password row of the same card shows it.
• The same game version as the server.
• On a modded server: only mods marked Server only. Console players cannot install mods. See Console players cannot join your modded Valheim server.

What the owner does

1. Open your server in the panel and check that the badge says Online.
2. On Overview, find the Play with friends card. Under How to join, the third step reads: Xbox, PlayStation and Game Pass friends cannot type an address: in Join game they choose to join with a code, and type the join code shown below.
3. Below it, Join code shows six digits. Click the copy button beside them.

4. Send your friend the code and the password. Copy invite message does it in one go: the message ends with Join code for console and Game Pass (new at every restart): and the code.

Steps for the console player

1. Start Valheim and choose your character.
2. Open Join game and choose to join with a code.
3. Type the six digits, connect, and type the password when the game asks for it.

Good to know

• The code can change at every restart, including the Daily restart early each morning. After a restart, check the card and send the code it shows.
• While the server is starting, the card says The server is starting. The join code appears here a few seconds after it is open.
• With crossplay off there is no code, and the card says so: console players cannot join until you turn it on and restart.
