You can bring a SCUM world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Back up first. Uploading a world with the same name as the one on the server replaces it. Create a backup of the current world (see How to create, download and restore backups), stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- Only upload a save taken from another SCUM dedicated server. Single-player saves are not supported and may not load.
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Download a copy of your current SCUM.db, SCUM.db-wal and SCUM.db-shm from Files, in SCUM, Saved, SaveFiles, because the next step removes them. Everything on the server now (world, bases, vehicles, character progress) will be lost.
- Delete the three existing files in that folder, then upload your SCUM.db (and its -wal and -shm files if you have them) into the same folder. Files with the same name replace the old ones.
- Start the server and join to check that your world and characters are there. Characters carry over because they are tied to each player's Steam account.
- Server name, Server description, Join password, Playstyle and Max players always come from the panel settings, not from the uploaded save.
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Download a copy of SCUM.db, SCUM.db-wal and SCUM.db-shm from Files, in SCUM, Saved, SaveFiles, so you can go back.
- Delete those three files. This permanently removes the world, all bases and vehicles, and every player's character and progress on this server.
- Start the server. It creates a fresh world; the first start takes a little longer.
