SCUM Server Hosting

A 225 km2 prison island that keeps simulating whether or not anyone is logged in. Your SCUM server tracks every survivor's metabolism, vitamin intake, muscle mass and skill decay in real time, so it needs real hardware, and that is exactly what it gets here.

Questions

SCUM-specific questions we get asked most. The knowledgebase has the longer answers.

How much RAM does a SCUM server need?
More than most survival games. A SCUM server occupies around 8GB with zero players connected, because the island simulation runs regardless of who is online. The plans here start at 12GB for that reason, and 16GB is the right choice for a server that has been building for months or runs above roughly 40 players.
Can I edit ServerSettings.ini directly?
Yes. Full file access over SFTP and in the panel's file manager. SCUM exposes over 400 values across General, World, Respawn, Vehicles, Damage and Features, and you get all of them rather than a subset behind a form.
How many players can a SCUM server hold?
SCUM's MaxPlayers setting accepts 1 to 128, and most communities run 64. The plans here provision 20 and 35 slots. Size on how much your players build rather than on the player cap alone, because twenty builders cost a server more than sixty raiders.
Why does my SCUM server use more RAM over time?
Because world state accumulates: bases, vehicles, character progression. Long uptimes are the common source of SCUM instability, which is why scheduled restarts are worth setting from day one. You configure them from the control panel.
Does the server update itself?
Automatic updates are on by default, so the server takes the current build when it starts. You can turn that off in the panel if you need to hold a version.
How fast is setup?
Your server is provisioned and running immediately after checkout. There is no queue and no manual provisioning step.
