These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost SCUM server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server name | The name players see in the in-game server browser. Written into ServerSettings.ini every time the server starts, so it takes effect on the next start. | up to 50 characters | A PlaynHost SCUM Server |
| Server description | A short line shown under the server name in the browser. Use it for the rules, the language you play in, or where to find your Discord. Leave it empty for none. | up to 200 characters | A SCUM island hosted on PlaynHost |
| Join password | Players must enter this to connect. Leave it empty to run a public server. No spaces. | up to 30 characters, no spaces | empty |
| Playstyle | Whether players can hurt each other. PVE = players cannot attack each other, PVP = full player versus player. Takes effect on the next start. | one of: PVE, PVP | PVP |
| Automatic updates | Check for a game update each time the server starts. Turn this off only if you need to stay on a specific build. | on or off | on |
| Max players (read only) | How many players can be on the island at once. This comes from the plan you bought, so it is read only here - use Edit player slots on the overview to sit below it, or upgrade the plan to raise it. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
| Query port (read only) | The port the game answers server browser queries on. The panel assigns it with your server; it is shown here so you can match it against Ports and Network, and it cannot be changed from this page. | set by your plan or the server | assigned to your server |
Good to know
- Server name, Server description, Join password, Playstyle and Max players are written into ServerSettings.ini every time the server starts, so change them under Settings, then Game Settings and restart. Typing over those values in the file does not stick, they are overwritten at the next start. Other settings in the file are only read at startup, so stop the server, edit, then start it again.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says. Set a password before you invite players if you want a private server.
