Your players join your SCUM server with its Server Address, shown on the server's Overview page in the panel. SCUM is a hardcore open-world survival game with a very detailed metabolism, inventory and weapon-maintenance system for up to 64 players; a hosted server keeps one persistent island running around the clock so friends can join without anyone's PC being the host.
Join in a few steps
- Open your server in the panel. If the status badge says Offline, click Start and wait until it says Online. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- On the Overview page, click the copy icon next to Server Address. It looks like
address:port.

- Launch SCUM from Steam and choose Multiplayer from the main menu.
- Open the server browser and search for your server by the name you set in the panel (Server name).
- Select your server and join. If you set a Join password, enter it when the game asks.
- If the server is not listed right after it started, wait a minute or two and refresh the list. The server needs time to finish loading before it shows up.
Ports
Players connect with the port shown in the Server Address on the Overview page. The server also has a second port for server browser queries; it is assigned automatically with your server and you do not need to enter it or change it.
Game version
The server checks for a game update every time it starts while Automatic updates is switched on (the default), so restart the server after a SCUM patch to pick it up. Turn Automatic updates off only if you need to stay on a specific build.
If you cannot join
- The server must be Online. Check the badge at the top of the page.
- Copy the address again from the panel. A missing or mistyped port is the most common cause.
- Make sure every player runs a compatible game version.
- Check the password, if you set one. See How to set up your SCUM server.
