Your Rust server does not show in the server list

A new Rust server shows up in the game's Community list after a few minutes. Until then, and whenever the list does not show it, players can join with client.connect and the address from the Play with friends card.

Join without the list

1. Copy the address from the Play with friends card on Overview.
2. In the game press F1, type client.connect and a space, paste the address, and press Enter.

If the server is new

Give it a few minutes after it shows Server startup complete in the Console. A server that is not Online cannot be listed at all.

Check the name

Players search for the Server Name in Game Settings, not the name at the top of Overview, which is only for you. See How to change your Rust server name and description.

Check the tags

The server browser's filters use your tags. A player who filters for a region, a difficulty or a wipe schedule only sees servers that carry that tag, and the browser shows at most four of your tags. Pick tags that are true, and one per group where the picker says pick one. See How to set server browser tags and server.cfg options on your Rust server.

Check the branch

Check the version

A server on an older build than the players' game is turned away when they try to join. Open Settings, Game Settings and look for A newer game build is out: How to update your Rust server.

Still not listed

If the server is Online, joining with the address works, and it still has not appeared after an hour, open a ticket with the server name and the last 50 to 100 lines of the Console.
