When mods do nothing, it is nearly always one of three things: the mod was downloaded but never switched on, the name in Enabled mods is not the mod's real ID, or the mod is too old for your build. Open the Workshop tab and go down this list.
1. Are both lists filled?
Downloading does not enable a mod. The mod's number goes in Workshop items, and its name goes in Enabled mods. If you see These two lists do not agree, one of the lists is empty. That warning does not check single mods, so also make sure each mod is in both lists. At the start the Console also prints a WARNING line when only one list is filled. See How to add a Workshop mod to your Project Zomboid server.
2. Is the name the Mod ID?
It is not the title and not the number. If the field rejects what you typed, you pasted a title with spaces. Use the box Names for the mods you are downloading, or read the ID: How to find the Mod ID of a Project Zomboid mod.
3. Does the row have a badge?
- Not found: the number is wrong.
- Wrong game: the item belongs to another game.
- Outdated: the mod is older than your build and the game will not load it: Project Zomboid mods and Build 42: what to know.
4. Did the server restart?
The page says Saved, and not applied yet until you click Restart to apply. The server downloads and enables mods only when it starts.
5. What does the report say?
Open Did they load? (last start): Loaded, Not loaded or No sign in the log. For Not loaded, the game could not find a mod by that name: How to check that your Project Zomboid mods loaded.
6. Is a library missing or in the wrong place?
A mod that needs another mod must come after it. Missing items or Lua errors after adding a mod are usually this: How to fix the mod load order on your Project Zomboid server.
7. Did the download fail?
Search the Console for pnh-workshop-check. A line WARNING item <number> failed to download (removed, private, or a typo) means that item was dropped. Check the number against the Workshop address, and that the item still exists.
8. Do the players have the same mods?
Everyone needs the same mods as the server. If only some players see the effect, they may be missing a mod or on a different build.
Still nothing
If the server stops after adding a mod, remove the newest one: How to remove a mod from your Project Zomboid server. Otherwise open a ticket with the load report and the last 100 lines of the Console.
