Players on the PC version of Project Zomboid on Steam can join your server, on Windows, macOS or Linux, if they run the same build and have the same mods. Project Zomboid has no console version, so there is nothing to join from a console. We have not tested the GOG version.
Steam on PC
This is the version your server is made for. The game's own join steps in the panel are Main menu > Join > Favorites, then the IP and the port: How to join your Project Zomboid server from Steam.
Each player needs:
- The same build as the server. Pick the branch in Steam under the game's Properties, then Betas: How to choose Build 41 or Build 42 for your Project Zomboid server.
- The same mods, which the game downloads when they join: How to add mods to your Project Zomboid server.
GOG
We have not tested joining from the GOG version. The game's wiki says a server accepts Steam players or non-Steam players, not both, and your PlayNHost server runs in Steam mode (the Console prints *** Steam is enabled). So a friend on GOG may not be able to join. If this matters to you, open a ticket before you buy, and say which version your friends have.
Consoles and phones
There is no console or mobile version of Project Zomboid, so no console player can join.
Split-screen
The Server Settings editor has a Split-screen players switch under Players, which lets co-op and split-screen players join together with someone: How to change the player settings of your Project Zomboid server.
