How much RAM does a Necesse server need?

NecesseUpdated Oct 5, 20262 min read

An idle Necesse server with nobody online uses roughly 700 MB of memory. That is an idle figure: memory use grows with players, loaded areas and the size of your world, so check it on the Overview page with players online.

Our free Game Server RAM Guide shows the memory a Necesse server used in our own measurement.

Check your own usage

Open your server's Overview page and look at Usage, then the RAM tab, while players are online. An empty server tells you little, so read it with players on. See How to read your server's usage graphs.

Tips for a healthier server

  • The world can pause while nobody is online (the pause when empty option, an Admin command), which saves processing when the server is idle.
  • Seeing a message about suggesting garbage collection while the server is empty in the Console is normal and not a fault.

Change plan

If memory keeps reaching your plan's limit while players are on, move to a bigger plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
