These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost Factorio server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| AFK Kick | Time specified in minutes to kick AFK players. 0 is off | 1 to 3 digits | 0 |
| Factorio Version | Which version of Factorio to install. Use "latest" for the current stable release, "experimental" for the newest pre-release, or an exact version number such as 2.0.77. This is also what the Mods tab filters mod releases against, so a pinned version only offers mods that actually work with it. Changing this reinstalls the game files the next time the server is reinstalled. | 3 to 12 characters, letters and numbers and these symbols: . | latest |
| RCON Enabled? | Opens a remote admin console so tools like a Discord bot can run commands on your server. It also needs a port, which you add under Ports & Network, and a password below - without a port it stays off. | on or off | a default is set, change it |
| RCON Password | Password for the remote admin console, used only when the switch above is on. Letters, numbers and the punctuation ! @ # % ^ * ( ) _ + = . , : ? - are allowed, up to 64 characters. Spaces and quotes are rejected because they would be split apart before the server saw them. | up to 64 characters, letters and numbers and these symbols: ! @ # % ^ ( ) _ + = . , : - | empty |
| RCON Port | The port the remote admin console listens on. Add a second port to your server under Ports & Network and put it here; leave it empty and the console stays off even when the switch above is on. | a number | assigned to your server |
| Auto Save Interval | Time between auto saves specified in minutes | 1 to 3 digits | 10 |
| Save Name | The save name for the server. | 1 to 100 characters, letters, numbers, dashes and underscores | gamesave |
| Auto Save Slots | Left here because it still reaches server-settings.json and a mod or scenario can read it, but it does not control how many autosaves this server keeps. | 1 to 3 digits | set by your plan |
| Server Description | Description of the game that will appear in the listing. | up to 200 characters | A factory hosted on PlaynHost |
| Server Name | Name of the game as it will appear in the game listing | up to 100 characters | A PlaynHost Factorio Server |
| Server password | The password for the server. | up to 40 characters | empty |
| Server Token | Your factorio.com API token - sign in at factorio.com/profile and copy the token shown there. It is not your password. Paired with Server Username it does two jobs: it lists your server in the public server browser, and it authorises Mod Portal downloads from the Mods tab. Treat it as a secret. Leave it empty to skip both; uploading mod .zip files into the mods/ folder under Files works without it. Letters and numbers only. | up to 100 characters, letters and numbers | empty |
| Server Username | Your factorio.com account name. It does two jobs: it is the account your server is listed under in the public server browser, and together with Server Token it is the credential the Mods tab uses to download from the Factorio Mod Portal. Leave it empty to skip both - the server still runs, and you can still add mods by uploading their .zip files into the mods/ folder under Files. Letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores only, 3 to 40 characters. | letters and numbers and these symbols: _ . - | empty |
| Scenario | Run a scenario instead of a normal save. Enter the scenario name exactly as the folder is spelled in your scenarios/ directory (for example: wave-defense). Scenarios bundled inside a mod are written as mod-name/scenario-name. Leave this empty to play a normal save game - setting it means Save Name is ignored and your existing save is not loaded. Letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores only, with at most one slash; anything else is rejected because the server would fail to start. | letters and numbers and these symbols: _ . - | empty |
| Auto-update server | Check for a new Factorio build each time the server starts. It follows the channel set above: "latest" tracks the STABLE headless build, which is what the Factorio client updates itself to, so your players can still connect. A pinned version number is never updated. Saves and mods are never touched. | on or off | on |
| Maximum Slots (read only) | The number of players allowed on the server at once. The limit comes with your plan. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
Good to know
- Settings are written into the server's configuration when the server starts, so restart the server after changing them. Changing Factorio Version does not change the installed game by itself. To switch version, ask support, or change the server type with a backup first, because changing it deletes the server's files by default. The Maximum Slots value comes with your plan and cannot be edited.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says. Set a password before you invite players if you want a private server.
