Keen Games notes that an older config file can sometimes be changed wrongly by a new version of the game. Stop the server, compare enshrouded_server.json with a backup from before the update, and restore it.
Check the file
- Stop the server.
- Open Files and download
enshrouded_server.jsonwith Download file from its ... menu. Open it in a text editor. - Compare it with the copy in a backup from before the update. Download the backup with Download from its ... menu on the Backups page if you want to look inside, or look at Gameplay Settings in the panel.
Restore the file
- On the Backups page, open the ... menu of a backup from before the update.
- Choose Restore some files....
- On the tab Files and folders, tick
enshrouded_server.json, and click Restore selected.
See How to restore only the world or only the settings of your Enshrouded server. Your world is not changed.
Do not delete the file
Do not delete enshrouded_server.json to make the game write a new one. The panel expects the groups it set up when it installed your server. A new file made by the game has other groups, and the Server Password and Admin password would not land where you expect. If you have no backup, ask support and we set the file up again.
Afterwards
Open Settings, Gameplay Settings and check the difficulty, chat, permissions and Admin password. Click Save & restart. Make a new backup so you have a good copy: see How to back up and restore your Enshrouded world.
