Your mods live in the mods folder. To update a mod, replace its folder or .zip there with the new version and restart. To remove one, delete it and restart. To play without any mods for a while, switch Mod loader (EML) off on the Modding tab.
Back up first. A world played with a mod can lose the items that mod added if you later play it without the mod. Make a backup before you remove a mod from a world you care about: see How to back up and restore your Enshrouded world.
Update a mod
- Download the new version from the mod's page.
- Open your server in the panel, click the Files tab and open
mods. - Delete the mod's old folder or
.zip, then upload the new one the same way as the first time: the folder withmod.jsonin it, or the.zip, directly inmods. Keep only one version of each mod inmods.
- Restart the server and read the Console. It should say
pnh-eml: mods loadedwith the mod's name.
You can do this while the server runs: mods are read when the server starts, so nothing changes until the restart.
Remove a mod
- On the Files tab, open
mods. - Click the ... menu of the mod's folder or
.zipand delete it. - Restart the server. The Console's
pnh-eml: online now counts one mod fewer.
If you removed the last mod, you can also switch the mod loader off.
Play without mods for a while
- Click the Modding tab.
- Switch off Mod loader (EML) on the Enshrouded Mod Loader (EML) card, then click Restart to apply.
- At the start, the Console says
pnh-eml: off. The loader is out and the original game data is back. Your mods stay in mods/.
Your mods stay in the mods folder. Switch the loader on again and restart, and they load again. See How to install mods on your Enshrouded server.
After a game update
When Enshrouded updates, the Console may say the game was updated since mods last ran. That is normal: the loader prepares itself for the new version. If a mod or the loader does not work with the new version yet, the server stops instead of starting: see Your Enshrouded server stopped because of a mod.
Good to know
- Tell your players before you add or remove a mod that they also need on their own game.
- To try a change without risk, make a copy of your server first: see How to make a copy of your server and try a change on it first.
