You can bring a Don't Starve Together world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Back up first. Uploading a world with the same name as the one on the server replaces it. Create a backup of the current world (see How to create, download and restore backups), stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Make a panel backup first, because the next steps remove the current world.
- Open Files and go to DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Master/save. Delete the files and folders inside the save folder, so two worlds are not mixed.
- Upload the contents of your existing world's Master save folder into that same save folder. If you have a .zip, upload it, tick it and click Unzip, then move the files so they sit directly in save.
- If your world also has caves, do the same in DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Caves/save with the contents of its Caves save folder. If it has no caves, empty the Caves save folder so the server makes new caves.
- Start the server and join to check your world and bases are there. A world only loads fully if the game version and the mods match the ones it was saved with. If it does not load, open a ticket.
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- Stop the server from the panel.
- Make a panel backup first. The next steps permanently delete the surface and the caves worlds, including every base and everything stored in them, and the backup is the only way back.
- If you want different world rules, edit worldgenoverride.lua in DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Master and in DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Caves now. They only apply when a new world is generated.
- Open Files, go to DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Master/save and delete everything inside it. Do the same inside DoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Caves/save, so both worlds start fresh together.
- Start the server. It generates a new world, which takes longer than a normal start. Your server token, cluster.ini and admin list are not touched.
