These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost Don't Starve Together server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server Token | Required before your server will start, because the game will not run without a valid token. Create one in your Klei account at https://accounts.klei.com/account/game/servers?game=DontStarveTogether, then paste the whole token here and start the server. The Console message may call this box Cluster Token: it is this Server Token box. | up to 2000 characters, no double quotes or backslashes | empty |
| Auto-update server | Check for a game update each time the server starts. Turn this off only if you need to stay on a specific build for mod compatibility. | on or off | off |
| Game mode | Survival is the standard game (default). Endless means no permanent death and the world keeps going. Wilderness is harsher, with players spawning apart and no shared base. | one of: survival, endless, wilderness | survival |
| Cluster Name | The name of your server as it appears in the in-game server browser. | text | A PlaynHost Server |
| Cluster Description | The description shown under your server on the Browse Games screen. | text | A PlaynHost Server |
| Steam Workshop Mods | The mods to load, given as the number after "id=" in each mod's Steam Workshop page address, separated by commas. The server downloads them itself on the next start, so that start takes longer than usual, and the same list is used for the surface world and the caves world. Emptying this box puts the server back to unmodded. | numbers separated by commas | empty |
| Max Players (read only) | The player limit included with your plan. This field is read-only. To run with fewer players, click Players on your server Overview page and pick any number up to your plan limit. Upgrading your plan raises the limit itself. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
| Caves Port (read only) | The second port your server uses for the caves world. A player who climbs into a cave is handed over on this port, so it must be reachable from the internet. The panel assigns it with your server, so you can compare it with Ports & Network, and it cannot be changed from this page. | set by your plan or the server | assigned to your server |
Good to know
- Cluster Name, Cluster Description, Game mode and Max Players are written into the server's cluster.ini file every time the server starts, so change them in Settings, then Game Settings, and restart. A value you type over them in the file is replaced at the next start. Other cluster.ini lines, such as the password and pause_when_empty, are yours to edit while the server is stopped.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says.
