Idle memory use on the 4096 MB plan (the smallest sold) was about 1.1 to 1.4 GB. The Valheim BepInEx type held about 1.4 GB and the Valheim Plus Mod type about 1.3 to 1.4 GB. The server install itself is about 2 GB of disk.
Our free Game Server RAM Guide shows the memory a Valheim server used in our own measurement.
Check your own usage
Open your server's Overview page and look at Usage, then the RAM tab, while players are online. An empty server tells you little, so read it with players on. See How to read your server's usage graphs.
Tips for a healthier server
- Keep Auto Update on for the plain server: Iron Gate's 1.0.14 and 1.0.15 patches fixed multiplayer terrain problems that cost performance, so a server left on an old build can lag more.
- The world is saved on a timer (default every 1800 seconds, set with Backup Interval) and at a clean stop, so stop the server normally rather than killing it.
Change plan
If memory keeps reaching your plan's limit while players are on, move to a bigger plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
