These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost Unturned server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server Name | The name of your server as it appears in the in-game server browser. Up to 50 characters. | up to 50 characters, no double quotes or backslashes | PlaynHost Server |
| Server Password | Password players must enter to join. Leave empty to run a public server. | no spaces, double quotes, backslashes, asterisks or question marks | empty |
| Steam Login Token | A Steam Game Server Login Token, which is what makes your server joinable over the internet. Without one, Unturned hides the server from the in-game Internet server list and replaces the Join button with "This server is not logged in." for anyone who reaches it by IP address, so the only way in is the Server Code printed in your console, and that code changes every time the server restarts. Create a token for free at https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers using App ID 304930, paste it here, then start the server. Use your own Steam account: a token belongs to the account that made it. | exactly 32 letters and numbers, or empty | empty |
| Auto update | Check for a game update each time the server starts. Turn this off only if you need to stay on a specific build for mod compatibility. | on or off | on |
| Steam Workshop Item IDs | Steam Workshop item IDs to load, comma-separated with no spaces, for example 3769784773,3740445327 - find the ID at the end of a Workshop item's URL (.../sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3769784773). Only IDs from the Unturned Workshop work here. The server downloads and installs the items itself every time it starts, so changing this list only costs a restart and your save is never touched; the first start after you add a large item takes noticeably longer while it downloads, so let it finish. Items that another item requires are fetched automatically. | up to 512 characters, numbers separated by commas | empty |
| Max Players (read only) | The player limit included with your plan. This field is read-only. To run with fewer players, click Players on your server overview and pick any number up to your plan limit - you can raise it back whenever you like. Upgrading your plan raises the limit itself. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
Good to know
- Changes to the panel settings (name, password, token, Workshop item IDs, Auto update) apply the next time the server starts, so restart after saving. Edits to Config.txt and Commands.dat also need a restart. The player limit is rewritten into Commands.dat on every start from your plan limit, so editing the MaxPlayers line yourself has no lasting effect. The developer recommends restarting the server about once a day to keep it stable. See How to schedule tasks and automatic backups.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says. Set a password before you invite players if you want a private server.
