Most problems with an Unturned server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
Players see "This server is not logged in." instead of a Join button, or the server is missing from the Internet server list
Why: No Steam Login Token is set. Without one the game hides the server from the Internet list and blocks joining by IP address.
Fix: Create a free token at steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers using App ID 304930, paste it into Steam Login Token, and restart. In the meantime players can join with the Server Code printed in the console.
The server sits on Starting and never finishes booting
Why: The Steam Login Token is wrong. A wrong token is worse than none because the world never finishes loading.
Fix: Check that the token is exactly 32 letters and digits and was created for App ID 304930, or clear the field and restart.
The Server Code your friends used no longer works after a restart
Why: Without a Steam Login Token the Server Code changes every time the server starts, including restarts caused by updates.
Fix: Add a Steam Login Token from your own Steam account so players can join by address, or share the new code from the panel Console after each restart.
A Workshop item installs but does not load, and the console says it "has not yet been updated from Unity 5.5"
Why: The item is very old and was never updated for the current game version.
Fix: Remove its ID from Steam Workshop Item IDs and pick a maintained item instead.
The first start after adding a Workshop item takes a very long time
Why: The server downloads and installs the items itself at each start, and large items take a while the first time.
Fix: Wait for the download to finish and do not stop the server mid-way.
A Workshop map was added but the server still loads the old map
Why: The server only uses a Workshop map once its name is set as the Map.
Fix: Open Files, go to Servers, then into your server's folder, and set the map's name on the Map line in Server/Commands.dat, then restart.
The Max Players field cannot be edited, or your own MaxPlayers line in Commands.dat keeps changing back
Why: The player limit comes from your plan and is written into the command file on every start.
Fix: Click Players on the server Overview page to run with fewer players (this restarts your server). Upgrade your plan to raise the limit.
Still stuck?
Open a ticket in the category that fits and include the last 50 to 100 lines of the console. See How to open a support ticket and How to fix a server that will not start.
