You can bring a Sons of the Forest world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Uploading a world can replace the world that is in the same slot on the server. Download a backup of the serverconfig folder first, stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- Stop the server and download the serverconfig folder first as a backup. A world already in the slot you are uploading to may be replaced or mixed with the new one, so keep that backup.
- Upload your world into the Saves folder inside serverconfig and do not rename its files. If you are unsure how your world should be laid out there, ask support before uploading.
- Set Save Slot under Settings, then Game Settings, to the slot number the world was saved under.
- Start the server and join. If the server starts a blank world or does not load yours, ask support.
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- Stop the server and download a backup of the serverconfig folder first.
- Either set Save Slot to a number you have never used (1 to 30), which leaves the old world on disk untouched, or delete the existing save inside the Saves folder, which permanently removes that world, its bases and all progress.
- Choose the Difficulty you want under Settings, then Game Settings, because it is read when the new world is created.
- Start the server. A fresh world is created.
