The Console of a Sons of the Forest server on PlayNHost shows what the server prints while it runs: the update check, the RedLoader lines if you use mods, and the game's own log. It does not take commands: the Sons of the Forest dedicated server reads nothing typed into it, so admin actions are done in the game by a server owner.
Lines worth knowing
| Line | What it means |
|---|---|
#DSL Dedicated server loaded. | The server is ready. The badge turns Online and players can join. |
pnh-redloader: off | Mods are off. |
pnh-redloader: on, 2 plugin(s) in Mods/ | RedLoader is on and found two mod files. |
pnh-redloader: turned off. Your plugins in Mods/ are untouched. | You switched RedLoader off; your mods are still in Mods. |
pnh-redloader: the download failed, starting without the loader | RedLoader could not be fetched this time. Restart once more. |
Can I type commands?
No. Typing in the command box does nothing for Sons of the Forest, because the game reads no input from the panel. To kick, ban or promote players, become a server owner and use the pause menu in the game: How to become admin on your Sons of the Forest server. Settings are changed on the Settings tab: How to set up your Sons of the Forest server.
Search, share or download the output
- Click the search icon to find a line in the output.
- Download log saves what the Console holds as a file.
- Share log copies a link to the output, handy for a support ticket.
- The filters above the output show only Errors, Warnings or lines Since last start.
Where are the full log files?
The server writes log files to serverconfig/logs in Files, with the date and time in each file name, one file per start. They go back further than the Console. The game's log notes each automatic save with a line that contains Autosave complete, and a line with Creating a new save when a save slot was empty and it generated a new island.
