A map mod needs three entries on your server: the item in Workshop items, the mod name in Enabled mods and the folder in Map folders. Without the folder the map never appears. Go through the checks below, then restart after each fix.
Checks
- All three lists. Open the Workshop tab. The map mod must be in Workshop items, Enabled mods and Map folders: How to add a map mod to your Project Zomboid server.
- The folder name. In Map folders, the name must be the folder the mod's Workshop page names as Map Folder, letter for letter. It is not the mod's title and not its Mod ID. The box Map folders from your map mods suggests it.
- The badge. An Outdated badge on the item means the map was made before your server's build: it downloads but does not load: Project Zomboid mods and Build 42: what to know.
- The Console. After the restart, search for
map folders. The lineLooking in these map folders:is followed by the folders in use. Your folder should be listed, withMuldraugh, KYlast. - The report. Did they load? (last start) should show the map mod as Loaded or No sign in the log: How to check that your Project Zomboid mods loaded.
- The spawn point. The map can be there while players still spawn in the old place. Many map mods ask for a spawn region: How to set a spawn point on your Project Zomboid server.
- No Map folders list. If your Workshop tab has no Map folders list, your server's start-up is older and needs a refresh: open a ticket.
Order of maps
Where two maps cover the same ground, the one listed first wins. The panel writes your folders at the front, before Muldraugh, KY.
Careful with an existing world
Adding, removing or reordering maps on a world that exists can damage the parts of the map players have visited. If something looks wrong, restore your backup or start a new world with a new Server Name: How to restore your Project Zomboid world from a backup.
Players need the same map mod too: it downloads when they join.
