Click Live map in the left menu to see the Project Zomboid map with your players on it. Players who are on now show in blue at their last logged action, offline players in grey at their last saved position, and a red marker shows where a character died. From the same page you can follow or teleport a player, reset an area, edit spawns and pre-generate the map.
Open the map
- Open your server in the panel and click Live map in the left menu.
- The first time, the page may say Preparing the map: the panel copies the map from your game files, which takes about a minute, once per game update. The page fills in by itself.
- The bar at the top says Live and when it was updated, and how many players are on.

Use Zoom in, Zoom out and Whole map at the top right, or drag to move around.
Read the markers
The legend on the page says it: "Blue: on now, at their last logged action. Grey: offline, at their last saved position. Red: their character died there. F2 means upstairs, B1 a basement."
A position comes from what the game writes to its logs: an action, a door, a skill. "Standing still writes nothing, so it can lag behind." A player who has not done anything yet since they joined can show no position at first.
Find and follow a player
- In the Players panel on the right, choose On now or Everyone. Find a player searches by name.
- Click a player. Their card says On now or Offline, their floor and their coordinates.
- Show on map centres the map on them. Follow, for a player who is on, keeps them in view as they move, and Stop following ends it. Copy coordinates copies their x,y,z, for example for a spawn point.
- Under "Teleport <name> to another player", pick another player who is on in the list (Pick a player) and click Teleport. With nobody else online the card says "Nobody else is on to teleport them to."
- For a player who is on, the menu next to their name has the same actions as the Overview: kick, ban and access level: How to kick, ban and whitelist players on your Project Zomboid server.
The other tools on this page
- Reset an area: make one part of the map new again: How to reset an area of the map on your Project Zomboid server.
- Spawns: choose where new characters start: How to set a spawn point on your Project Zomboid server.
- Pre-generate the whole map, below the map: How to pre-generate the map of your Project Zomboid server.
What it needs
- The game must be installed. Before the first start the page says The game is not installed yet.
- The page itself needs console access. Positions are read from the server's log and save files, so they also need the permission to read file contents: without it the page says Positions are hidden for you. Reset an area shows only for people who may delete files, make backups and stop and start the server.
- The map is the base Kentucky map. "Areas added by map mods are not drawn, though players there still show."
Good to know
- With the server stopped, the map still shows everyone at their last saved position.
- The full list of players, with their skills and history, is on the Players page: How to use the Players page of your Project Zomboid server.
