Simple Voice Chat lets players talk to each other inside Minecraft, by distance or in groups. The panel sets it up for you with one click: it finds the right build for your server, gives it a port of its own and writes its settings. You do not have to find the plugin, open a port or type a number into a config file.
What you need
- A Minecraft Java server running Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Folia, Fabric, Quilt, Forge or NeoForge. Vanilla, Sponge, proxies and the hybrid types that run both plugins and mods (Magma, Ketting, Mohist) are not offered.
- A free port. The add-on takes one port from your plan's allowance. If every port is used, the panel tells you, and you can remove a port you do not need on the Ports & Network page and try again.
- Permission to create files and add ports on the server. If you share the server, see How to invite friends and give them access to your server.
Set it up
- Open your server in the panel and click Ports & Network in the left menu.
On the Add-ons card, find Voice chat and click Set up.

- Follow what the row tells you. The panel never restarts your server by itself, so it says Restart the server to start what you set up and offers Restart now. If the row says One step left, start the server once so the add-on writes its settings, then press Finish set-up.
- When the row shows Running, voice chat is on. It uses a port, which the row shows. Players never type it: the server tells their mod.
The row's badge tells you where you are: Waiting for a restart, One step left, Running, Did not start or Off. If it says Did not start, open the Console and look for the add-on's error.
What your players do
Each player also installs the Simple Voice Chat mod in their own game, for the same Minecraft version as the server. Without it they cannot use voice chat. Tell your players before you switch it on, and share the version of Minecraft your server runs.
Switch it off
On the same card, click Switch off on the Voice chat row. The add-on is switched off, not deleted. The port stays on your server with no label. Remove it from the port list on the Ports & Network page if you no longer need it.
