The developer's guidance for a dedicated server is 6 GB of memory as a minimum and 10 GB recommended. A plan with 4 GB of memory is below the developer's minimum. Check your plan's memory on the Overview page and choose a plan at or above the recommendation for a busy world.
Check your own usage
Open your server's Overview page and look at Usage, then the RAM tab, while players are online. An empty server tells you little, so read it with players on. See How to read your server's usage graphs.
Tips for a healthier server
- Official guidance also asks for a fast CPU (3.2 GHz minimum, 4.5 GHz recommended, 3 logical cores) because the world simulation is CPU heavy.
- A higher Auto Save Interval means fewer save pauses on a busy world, at the cost of more lost progress after a crash.
- Turn Enable In-Game Scripts off if you do not need programmable blocks, so no player code runs on the server.
Change plan
If memory keeps reaching your plan's limit while players are on, move to a bigger plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
