These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost Space Engineers server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server Name | The name players see for this server in the Space Engineers server list. Changing it renames the entry players see; it has no effect on the world or on saved progress. | up to 64 characters | A PlaynHost Space Engineers Server |
| Server Description | A short line about your server, shown beneath its name when a player looks at it in the server list. It is purely descriptive and changes nothing about how the world plays. | up to 200 characters | A PlaynHost Space Engineers server. |
| Game Mode | Which rules the world plays by. Survival makes players mine ore, refine it and build components before they can construct anything, and ships, tools and characters take damage. Creative gives everyone unlimited resources, instant building and no damage. This applies to the existing world the next time the server starts, so a world can be switched between the two. | one of: Survival, Creative | Survival |
| Enable Saving | Controls whether the world is written to disk. On, the server saves on the schedule set by Auto Save Interval, so everything built survives a restart. Off, nothing is kept and a restart drops the world back to its last saved state. | on or off | on |
| Auto Save Interval | How long the server waits between automatic saves, in minutes. The game treats this value as minutes, so 5 means the world is written to disk every five minutes. Lower values lose less work if the server stops unexpectedly; higher values cause fewer pauses on a busy world. Only has any effect while Enable Saving is on. | a number from 1 to 180 | 5 |
| Auto Update | On, the server installs the newest Space Engineers build each time it starts. Off, it stays on the version it already has, which is what you want when a new build breaks the mods you run. Players whose game has updated cannot join a server left behind, so on is the usual choice. | on or off | on |
| Enable Experimental Mode | On, the world runs with Space Engineers experimental features enabled. Most Workshop mods need this, so leave it on if you have set any Steam Workshop Mod IDs. Off, the server keeps to the stable feature set and mods that depend on experimental features will fail to load. Takes effect the next time the server starts. | on or off | off |
| Enable In-Game Scripts | On, programmable blocks run the scripts players write into them, so player-built automation like door timers, inventory sorters and mining rigs works. Off, programmable blocks still accept scripts but never run them. Turn it off if you would rather not have player-written code running on the server. | on or off | off |
| Steam Workshop Mod IDs | Steam Workshop mod IDs to load, comma-separated with no spaces - for example: 1902970975,514062285 Find the ID at the end of a mod's Steam Workshop URL (.../sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1902970975). Only IDs from the Space Engineers workshop work here. Digits and commas only. Space Engineers keeps its mod list inside the world itself, so this list is written into your save's configuration and the server downloads each mod from the Workshop when it starts. The first start after you change this list takes noticeably longer than usual - let it finish. Restart the server to apply any change to this list; you never need to reinstall. | up to 512 characters, numbers separated by commas | empty |
| World Name (read only) | The name of the world this server runs. It is set when your server is created and shown here for reference. Your saved world is filed under this name, which is why it cannot be changed here - renaming it would leave the server with no world to load. | set by your plan or the server | World |
| Maximum Players (read only) | How many players can be in the world at the same time. This is the slot count included with your plan, so it is shown here but cannot be changed; a larger plan is what raises it. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
Good to know
- Restart the server after changing settings. Game Mode and Enable Experimental Mode take effect at the next start, and a changed mod list is applied on restart (the first start after a change is slower). Maximum Players is the slot count of your plan and World Name is fixed when the server is created, so both are shown but cannot be edited; a larger plan raises the slot count.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
