An access level decides what a player may do as staff in the game. The game offers five: Admin, Moderator, Overseer, GM and Observer. Give one with Set access level… on the Active players card, or with the setaccesslevel command in the Console. Remove it by setting None. The player must be online for the card.
From the Active players card
- Open the Overview page of your server in the panel. The server must be running.
- On the Active players card, open the menu Actions for the player's name and choose Set access level….
- In the window Set access level, pick the level in Access level. The choices are Admin, Moderator, Overseer, GM, Observer and None (removes their access level).
- Click Set level. The window says it applies straight away and lasts until you change it. A message with the player's name and the new level, such as "Name is now Moderator", confirms it.
From the Console
Open the Console tab and type, without a slash:
`` setaccesslevel "username" "moderator" ``
The game's own help describes it as: "Set access level of a player. Current levels: Admin, Moderator, Overseer, GM, Observer. Use /setaccesslevel "username" "accesslevel"." The answer is User username is now moderator. In the game's chat the command starts with a slash.
Remove an access level
On the card, choose None (removes their access level). A player who has an access level cannot be unbanned until you remove it: the game answers "This user can't be banned". Set None first, then unban: How to unban a player on your Project Zomboid server.
Good to know
- An access level is for the game. Panel access for a helper is a separate role in Team & Roles: How to invite friends and give them access to your server.
- We do not list what each level may do, because the game does not state it in the panel. Start with the lowest level a helper needs and test it.
- The first admin is the account from Admin Username and Admin Password: How to become admin on your Project Zomboid server.
