Add-ons for FiveM are called resources: scripts, maps, vehicles, sounds and complete roleplay frameworks. Each one is a folder containing a fxmanifest.lua file, and it does nothing until the server is told to start it.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your FiveM world.
Add a mod
- Stop the server and upload the resource folder into the resources folder in Files.
- Resource packs are often organised in category folders whose names are in square brackets. You can upload those as they are, but each resource folder inside must contain a fxmanifest.lua file, and you add the names of the resource folders, not the category folder names.
- Under Settings, then Game Settings, add the folder name to Resources to start. Use the resource's own folder name, separate several names with commas, and use only letters, numbers, underscores, dots and dashes.
- Restart the server. Every name in the list gets an ensure line in server.cfg at start.
- Read the console at startup. It names any resource that is installed but not started by anything.
- If txAdmin is enabled, add the resource in the txAdmin settings instead, because the list above is not applied while txAdmin runs the configuration.
- Players do not install anything. FiveM downloads server resources when they join.
- To remove a resource, delete its folder and take its name out of the list. Anything it added to the game (vehicles, maps, items) is gone with it, and data it stored in a database stays in the database.

Check it worked
Once the server has restarted, read the Console. A mod that loaded shows up during startup, and problems show under Errors and Warnings. See How to use the console and run commands and How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
