On the Maps page, the arrows button on a map's row changes the running server to that map at once. The raised-hand button next to it adds a vote for the map, so players can vote for it in the game.
Switch the map now
- Open your server in the panel and click Maps in the left menu.
- On the map's row, click the arrows button, just right of Start on this map. The page says Switching the server to and the map's name.

Players on the server move to the new map. This does not change the start map: after a restart the server starts on its Start map again.
Add a vote
Click the raised-hand button on the map's row. The page says Players can now vote for and the map's name. In the game, players open the vote menu and vote for it.
Maps that come with DDNet have no raised-hand button: they are in the vote list from the start. A vote you add here lasts until the server restarts, and at every start all maps in data/maps are in the vote list anyway.
When the buttons are missing
- The two buttons need the map's copy for Teeworlds 0.7 players (the 0.7 badge), which the running server makes within about half a minute of an upload. Reload the page a little later.
- The server must be running.
- If someone gave you access to their server, your role must allow the console.
- If the page says Switching maps live needs an update, the server was set up before the Console reached DDNet and maps change only at a restart. Ask support: we update it and keep your maps and settings.
Other ways
- Quick Tasks, Change Map: give it the map name without
.map. See How to run admin commands and moderate players on your DDNet server. - The Console: type
change_map "Gold Mine"(quotes when the name has spaces). - Right after an upload, wait for the 0.7 badge before you switch these ways too: a map without its 0.7 copy turns Teeworlds 0.7 support off until the next restart.
- Votes that stay forever: add
add_votelines tomyServerconfig.cfg. See How to add your own settings to your DDNet server.
