Copy the password again from Game Settings and paste it, restart the server if you changed it, and lift a ban with unban if the player typed it wrong too often. Admin commands also work from the panel's Console without any login.
1. The right password
- Open your server in the panel, click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
- Copy the password for the role: RCON Password for admin, Moderator RCON Password or Helper RCON Password for staff.
- In the game, press F2 and paste it. Capitals count.
2. Changed it? Restart
A new password applies only after a restart. Until then the old one still works and the new one does not.
3. Empty staff password
An empty Moderator RCON Password or Helper RCON Password means that login is off. Set one and restart: How to add moderators and helpers to your DDNet server.
4. Empty admin password
If RCON Password is empty, DDNet makes a new random one at every start and prints it in the Console. Set your own on Game Settings and restart, so it stays the same.
5. Banned after wrong tries
After too many wrong passwords DDNet bans the player for a while. With the public-server preset on, 5 wrong passwords mean a 30 minute ban. To let them back in at once:
- Click the Console tab and type
bans. - Find their ban and type
unbanwith its number, for exampleunban 0.
