How to change your DDNet server name and password

Change Server name and Server password on the Settings tab, under Game Settings, then restart the server.

Change them

  1. Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
  2. Open Game Settings.

  1. Type the new Server name. Click outside the field, or press Enter. The panel saves it.
  2. Type a Server password, or empty the field for an open server.
  3. Restart the server. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.

Rules

  • Server name: up to 64 characters, no double quotes or backslashes.
  • Server password: up to 64 characters, no double quotes or backslashes. Empty means anyone can join.

Good to know

  • With a password, the server shows with a lock in the DDNet browser.
  • The name at the top of the panel page is only for you. It does not change what the browser shows. See How to rename your server and change player slots.
  • The Play with friends card shows the new name and password after you save.
